Journal Article 2011 08 17 Numerous studies have been conducted over the past four decades about the effects of globalization on cities and the way cities have been responding to pressures imposed upon them by globalization. Over the decades, cities have developed a complex relationship with globalization in light of their social and economic significance. Further research into this relationship has led to the introduction of a new concept in urban studies known as the global city theory. This theory embodies discussions on the effects of globalization on cities and the way cities have been responding to the changes brought about by this phenomenon. It also includes a series of guidelines to help cities become part of the globalization process. In addition, the global city theory studies the effects of globalization on the new identity of contemporary cities, outlines a new set of criteria to distinguish global cities, defines the characteristics of such cities, develops a ranking system for them and studies the relationship between cities and global city networks. بررسی تأثیرات جهانی‌شدن بر شهرها و پاسخ‌ شهرها به فشارهای ناشی از جهانی‌شدن، موضوع مطالعات گوناگونی در طول حداقل چهار دهه اخیر بوده است. شهرها در طول این دهه‌ها به دلیل اهمیت اجتماعی و اقتصادی، روابط پیچیده‌ای با جهانی‌شدن داشته‌اند. مطالعات درباره این روابط در حال شکل‌دادن به یک چارچوب نظری جدید در مطالعات شهری است که نظریه شهر جهانی خوانده می‌شود. در مطالعات شهری، این نظریه جدید با پرسش‌هایی در رابطه با تأثیرات جهانی‌شدن بر شهرها و نحوه پاسخگویی شهرها به جهانی‌شدن آغاز می‌شود و با تدوین فرآیندهایی راهنما برای هدایت شهرها به سمت جهانی‌شدن پایان می‌یابد. نظریه شهر جهانی دربرگیرنده محورهای مطالعاتی دیگری، نظیر شناخت تأثیرات جهانی‌شدن در رابطه با ماهیت جدید شهرهای معاصر، تعیین معیارهایی برای شناخت شهرهای جهانی، بررسی خصوصیات این شهرها، رتبه‌بندی شهرهای جهانی و بررسی روابط بین شهرها و شبکه‌های شهری جهانی است. https://bagh-sj.com/article_3_eccbc87e4b5ce2fe28308fd9f2a7baf3.pdf
