Problem statement : The growth of tourism in recent years has been accompanied by factors such as overtourism and undertourism in many historical sites and monuments; phenomena that can threaten sustainability of historical heritage. In the meantime, the historical site of Rabe Rashidi in Tabriz, as one of the most prominent complexes of the Ilkhanid period, has often been neglected in the urban tourism system of Tabriz, despite its outstanding historical values. Due to the lack of quantitative and spatial analysis of the visitor distribution pattern, the intensity of use of spaces, and the capacity for tourism in Rabe Rashidi have been neglected.
Research Objective: This research aims to improve the unbalanced tourism situation and plan to reduce the physical erosion of the histotic site of Rabe Rashidi, to examine the tourism carrying capacity of Rabe Rashidi in Tabriz and the tourism potential of this historical site. This research seeks to answer the question of what potential does the Rabe Rashidi archaeological site of Tabriz have in the field of tourism?
Research Method: The strategy of this article was a combined quantitative and qualitative method using library and field studies. This research estimates the acceptable limits of change (LAC) and presents the results through calculations at three main levels: physical carrying capacity (PCC), real carrying capacity (RCC), and effective carrying capacity (ECC).
Conclusion: The data indicate that this valuable historical site, taking into account various physical, environmental, and management factors, will be in the minimal tourism range by 2025. According to computational data, out of original 90 hectares of Rab' Rashidi's area, currently less than 13 hectares can be restored, and Rab' Rashidi has the capacity to host more than 5,000 people per day, of which an average of 7 visitors have visited it during the days of a year.
